I cannot believe that it is already the beginning of November! It seems like I’m always saying this, year after year, but this year truly did fly by! I think this year seems to have moved especially fast because of how quickly my daughter is learning and growing. Being a parent is such an eye-opening reminder of the speed at which life truly moves.
With the quickly moving calendar and Christmas only a matter of weeks away, I wanted to share this list of the best Christmas gifts for toddlers to hopefully make your planning a little easier. Whether you are a parent searching for gift ideas to give to family members, making your own shopping list for a toddler or simply wondering what gifts are out there, this guide is for you!
I do want to preface this list by making you aware that I am a huge proponent of avoiding tech / electronics as much as possible. I am definitely not opposed to those things, I just try to emphasize the value and importance of interactive play for kids! So you won’t really find much in terms of video games, ipads and other electronics here.
Onto the list!
Here are the best gifts for toddlers in 2022:
1) Fat Brain Toys
My daughter was given this Noah’s Ark Playset for her first birthday and it quickly became her favorite toy. As simple as it seems, these wooden animals keep her entertained for hours on end. She is still learning the art of putting them into the boat and how the different shapes fit the holes, but I love that this is a toy that she can grow with. Plus, this toy is battery-free and allows for all of the imaginative play a toddler needs!
In addition to the Noah’s Ark Playset, Fat Brain Toys has many toys and activities for kids of all ages. I would highly recommend checking their site out for whatever age child you might be shopping for!
2) Lovevery Play Kits
Lovevey has become increasingly popular over the last few years for their Montessori-type toys and play kits. Not only are their toys and gifts provide age and stage appropriate play to meet children where they are developmentally, they challenge children to practice new skills too. Even more, their toys are made with sustainable, organic products that are good for both children and the environment.
I love that Lovevery offers individual gifts and play sets, as well as a subscription box. This makes for the perfect gift idea to throw out to grandparents, aunt, uncles, anyone interested in giving a gift to your toddler. The best part? No batteries and crazy noisy toys. Only thoughtfully crafted toys that help children learn and master new skills.
3) Kitchen Play-Set
Who hasn’t met a toddler that enjoys playing in the kitchen with tupperware, spoons and anything else they can get their hands on? What better way to encourage their curiosity than to provide them with their own kitchen to explore?! We were recently gifted a kitchen play-set for my daughter and I can’t tell you how much she has enjoyed playing and “cooking” us food. She has loved having her own space to do what she wants to, rather than having mom always telling her “no, we can’t play in that cabinet”.
There are so many variations of kitchen play-sets, the options seem to be limitless. Different materials, brands and features make for a wide variety of price options, making this the perfect gift for toddlers. There are many ways to add on to a kitchen play-set, or purchase additional food-items, this is a gift that toddlers can love for years to come!
4) PicassoTiles
I’ve honestly never met a child of any age that doesn’t love playing with PicassoTiles, even most adults enjoy them! While there are different brands and options available when it comes to magnetic tiles and building blocks, PicassoTiles, in my opinion, offers the most robust assortment of options for all ages.
They offer anything from basic magnetic tiles, building blocks and race tracks, to engineering sets for older kids. The toys from PicassoTiles are both recreational and educational for kids of all ages (adults too!), making them a top Christmas gift for toddlers (or any kid!).
5) Little Big Playroom
This is such a fun store! They specialize in ball pits, handcrafted wooden slides and sit-and-stand stations for kids. These are the kinds of toys that I with I had as a child and make for the best gifts for toddlers!
While I am usually a little hesitant to say that you should buy someone’s child a ball pit (no one wants to be cleaning up broken balls and find a place to store such a messy toy), I feel like a ball pit from Little Big Playroom is a fairly safe investment. Not only do these ball pit sets come in variety of neutral colors and patterns, they are also non-toxic, washable, eco-friendly and crushproof. Not to mention, the ball pit itself is sturdy and has a cover! Say good-bye to chasing balls all over the place every time your child gets in or out.
Two other amazing products Little Big Playroom offers are their handcrafted wooden slides – perfect for indoor climbing and play anytime of year – and their wooden sit-and-stand stations. I love the idea of a sit-and-stand station and have add this one to my toddler’s Christmas list! As a person who loves being in the kitchen, I am so excited to include my daughter in as much as possible, without fearing that she’ll topple over the second I look away.
6) Name Stories
Personalized gifts are such a great option for any occasion. The people at Name Stories have taken this idea and coupled with the fact that each name has a meaning and history. They offer original artwork that celebrates each name and it’s journey through history. Each piece features a detailed account of a name’s meaning, significance and origin. Not only are these a wonderful gift to teach a child that they are important and have meaning, but it is also a timeless gift that can be cherished for years to come.
Here is an example of one of their prints. These are totally customizable in terms of color and whether you choose to add a frame. What the perfect gift!
