I love cookies, especially when they are easy to make and require minimal time. Let’s be honest though, who doesn’t love those things?
These no-bake cookies are a classic recipe that always satisfy my sweet tooth and bring me back to childhood.
Ingredients
The ingredients for these no-bake Cookies include:
- Old fashioned oats
- Sugar
- Cocoa powder
- Butter
- Milk
Disclaimer: I never claimed that these were a health food….but they taste delicious!
Make the no-bake cookies
These cookies require no baking (obviously…..), so they are fairly quick to make.
To begin, combine the sugar, cocoa powder, butter and milk in a medium-sized sauce pan. Heat the mixture on medium, stirring continually to prevent burning.
Heat the mixture until it begins boiling. Allow it to boil for 1 minute before removing the pan from heat.
After the 1 minute of boiling, remove the pan from heat and add the old fashioned oats and peanut butter. Stir to combine thoroughly.
Now scoop the mixture by spoonful onto a piece of wax paper. I like using a cookie scoop for this (this set is my favorite!).
Allow the cookies to cool and harden completely. They are ready to eat when you can remove them from the wax paper and they remain whole.
No-bake cookie variations
There are a number of ways you can change up this no-bake cookie recipe. Here are a few ideas:
- Add shredded coconut or dried fruit
- Use quick cooking oats – rather than old fashioned (note: this might change the amount of oats you need)
- Use another kind of nut butter – peanut butter is a pretty traditional cookie flavor, but you can swap this out for one you might prefer. Almond and cashew butter are great options to change up the flavor a little.
- Change up the size of your cookies – use a different size cookie scoop or spoon.
- Make them into bars – using a baking pan lined with parchment paper.
- Sea salt – sprinkle the cookies with a pinch of sea salt right after placing on the wax paper
How do I store these no-bake cookies?
I recommend storing these cookies in an airtight container and consuming them with 5-7 days for the best flavor!
Another option is to freeze these cookies to store them longer and keep them fresh. I recommend storing them in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
